Kyrgyz national instruments

From the ancient times the Kyrgyz people were famous for their musical talents. The Kyrgyz traditional musical instruments were formed and perfected during the whole history of the Kyrgyz people and were shaped as they are in the 16th century.

The most popular Kyrgyz traditional musical instrument is komuz, a three-string pinch musical instrument made of wood of an apricot-tree.

Kyl kiyak, a two-string bow musical instrument the sounding-board of which is usually made of camel leather, is also very popular.

Interesting traditional musical instruments are: temir komuz, a mouth musical instrument made of iron, and jigach ooz komuz made of wood.

Among traditional musical wind instruments the most popular are: choor, a pipe-shaped wooden musical instrument, and chopo choor, a ball-shaped wind musical instrument made of clay
